the local y’all joins forces with market wagon to strengthen local food economy in the greater nashville area

Nashville-based The Local Y’all, a pioneering online farmers market with weekly home delivery, is proud to announce its acquisition by Indianapolis-based Market Wagon, a leader in connecting consumers with local farms and artisans that offers a similar service.

The Local Y’all was started by Thomas Schreiber and his wife Emily in 2022, with the goal to make local goods more accessible to Nashville residents

“Most people can’t make it to their local farmers market every week, but I’d argue everyone loves shopping locally. It puts money back into the local economy, supports small businesses and the products taste incredible. On top of that, global supply chains have massive pressure on them. Shopping local helps reduce that pressure while having a positive impact on the environment,” says Schreiber.

The Local Y’all formed relationships with 50 vendors across Nashville offering over 120 local goods such as produce, bread, baked goods, coffee and more. The online farmers market makes it easier for vendors to expand their customer base and allow consumers to discover & support the small businesses that make Nashville great.

The acquisition by Market Wagon, which started in Indianapolis and now operates 18 different local-food hubs across the Midwest, Mid-Atlantic, and Southeast U.S, marks a new chapter for The Local Y’all. “By combining The Local Y’all’s deep community roots with Market Wagon's expertise and technology, we’re taking a big step towards building a stronger, more resilient local food economy in Nashville,” says Schreiber. The combined operation with its larger delivery area is poised to make locally-sourced food even more convenient and accessible for consumers in 15 Middle Tennessee counties.

“The future of local food in Nashville is bright,” says Market Wagon Co-Founder and CEO Dan Brunner. “Together with The Local Y’all, we will continue to innovate and grow.  This ensures that the people of Middle Tennessee have easy access to the best of what local farms and food artisans have to offer, and that those farms and artisans can reap the benefits of access to millions of consumers via home delivery.”

Market Wagon’s vendor list includes farmers such as Rose Creek Farms, ZK Ranches, RC Farms, and Pure Pasture Farms as well as artisans such as Gina’s Italian Cuisine, House of Bread Nolensville, and Radical Rabbit. The order deadline is Sunday night for weekly home delivery on Tuesdays.
